  3. [00:42:26] <GabeW> hey all
  4. [00:43:19] <GabeW> i threw together some code to allow a desktop app to use openid auth with a cooperating server-side RP (think "desktop app using HTTP to talk to a server-side app which needs to use openid to authenticat the user")
  5. [00:43:24] <GabeW> now, the question is what to do with it
  6. [00:48:16] <_keturn> step #1: blog
  7. [00:48:21] <GabeW> argh
  8. [00:48:23] <GabeW> hehe
  9. [00:48:23] <GabeW> yah
  10. [00:48:37] <bricas> step #1: collect underpants
  11. [00:48:39] <GabeW> did you see my comment about the problem with the filestore for the python openid consumer
  12. [00:48:42] <GabeW> keturn?
  13. [00:48:48] <GabeW> scrollback in irc logs
  14. [00:48:48] <GabeW> last nigh

  16. [00:50:42] <GabeW> yah, time to blog it
  17. [00:50:55] <GabeW> its pretty simple but seems to work pretty painlessly

  29. [01:22:29] <GabeW> ah
  30. [01:22:30] <GabeW> ok
  31. [01:23:20] <_keturn> as WindowsError has [0] be some windows error code, but does seem to set the errno attribute with the posix error.

  137. [21:33:27] <tchewy> Hi, does anyone here knows how to create a PHP RP ?
  138. [21:34:20] <tchewy> (I created my iP but I wanna implement OpenID on my website/blog for my readers to comment...)
  139. [21:42:34] * KevinMarks (n=Snak@sjcc86x81.sjccnet.com) has joined #openid
  140. [21:45:06] <cygnus> tchewy: if you're already using the janrain PHP library, it comes with an example consumer that should be helpful in getting an idea of what parts of your web site need to be changed. if you're already running website or blog software that supports being an OpenID RP (e.g., Wordpress), then you could search for plugins for that platform instead of writing your own code.
  141. [21:47:26] <tchewy> rhem, thanks, will take a look to the janrain lib. Since I developped my own little blog and my server's in safe mode it will certainly be difficult
  142. [21:48:32] <cygnus> tchewy: what library are you using for your IDP?
  143. [21:48:48] <tchewy> MyID ... ok not the best :/
  144. [21:49:25] <tchewy> not working with even 1% of the enabled websites so ... certainly register on myopenid for the moment
  145. [21:49:28] <cygnus> yeah, that will not be useful for implementing RP support.
  146. [21:49:43] <cygnus> phpMyID does have some issues.
  147. [21:50:21] <tchewy> ok I found a consumer folder. Copied it on my ftp and trying it right now
  148. [21:51:02] <tchewy> grrr it needs to be entirely copied
  149. [21:51:09] <cygnus> as opposed to?
  150. [21:52:18] <tchewy> i just copied the consumer folder. it needs some files to be included. Hope it will run that way.
  151. [21:52:32] <cygnus> it needs the library, which is in the Auth/ and Services/ folders.
  152. [21:52:44] <tchewy> not running quite well I got include issues
  153. [21:52:54] <tchewy> Warning: main(Auth/OpenID/Consumer.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /mnt/108/sdb/1/f/arthur.rabate/openid/examples/consumer/common.php on line 11v
  154. [21:54:34] <cygnus> yes, the Auth/ and Services/ folders need to be in your include path. If you upload the entire package as-is, you *shouldn't* have to modify the include path at all, because the consumer code tries to set it properly.
  155. [21:54:48] <cygnus> but it assumes that you have Auth, Services, and examples all in the same directory.
  156. [21:55:20] <tchewy> yep, but my isp hasn't configured it $path ... :/
  157. [21:55:43] <tchewy> trying modifying inclusion, to put every php in the same folder
  158. [21:59:10] <cygnus> no, don't do that
  159. [21:59:25] <cygnus> all you have to do is upload the entire package to your ftp server
  160. [22:00:00] <tchewy> already tried :/ just getting include issues over and over
