Hi, does anyone know about a simple, single user OpenID Identity Provider other than phpMyID?
- [04:04:03] <SIGFPE>
why not just use delegation?
- [04:06:21] <Aleksandersen>
Because I am paranoid about who gets to control my personal data?
- [04:14:36] <SIGFPE>
personal data?
- [04:14:52] <SIGFPE>
you're planning on using the simple registration stuff as well?
- [04:15:09] <Aleksandersen>
Yes.
- [04:15:16] <SIGFPE>
ah...
- [04:17:07] <SIGFPE>
Hrm, I haven't really looked at that specification as much as I ought to have, but it seems quite an oversight that something like this isn't covered. I would think you ought to be able to delegate and have your sreg information be kept on something you control as well...
- [04:18:28] <Aleksandersen>
phpMyID works. However it is a beta, and it has a lot of bugs.
- [04:21:43] <Aleksandersen>
The kind of bugs that make it does not work.
- [04:22:18] <SIGFPE>
Do you mind programming around a library? There's quite a few libs out there that are everything but a frontend.
- [04:23:07] <Aleksandersen>
I am not a good programer. As I said: I am looking for something simple.
- [04:23:46] <SIGFPE>
Ah, I'm sure there's something out there, but alas, I actually haven't looked too much. We had to develop our own around libraries because of what we needed.
- [04:24:28] <SIGFPE>
I imagine someone else in the channel will be more helpful in that area if you keep sticking around. :)
- [04:26:22] <Aleksandersen>
phpMyID would have been perfect. I think it will be a good solution in the future. But as of now: It does not do the job. I saw something similar for Ruby on Rails back in January. But I have not been able to find that project's website.
- [05:07:47] <Aleksandersen>
I will just repeat my question: Does anyone know about a simple, single user OpenID Identity Provider other than phpMyID?
- [05:08:16] <SIGFPE>
Aleksandersen: IRC is slow, someone will pick up the ball and run with it eventually. :)
- [05:39:22] <keturn>
I haven't yet seen anything I'd really recommend as both simple to install and completely functional. I think it's a small niche -- the guy who wants to run a server just for himself is probably going to develop it until it's at the "works for me" stage and not take it much further.
- [05:40:41] <keturn>
someone will do it sooner or later
- [05:43:15] <jwang>
if projects like wordpress and drupal picked up phpmyid as an internal idp, it could be interesting
