<VxJasonxV> knowing*
- [16:57:33] <ArlequinNoir>
I sent an e-mail to the claimID support, see here:
- [16:57:33] <ArlequinNoir>
I use claimID a long time now and I also registered for VeriSign PIP some months ago. Today I really got the edge about how VeriSign PIP and OpenID is working!
- [16:57:33] <ArlequinNoir>
And the result is, that I'd like to manage all my IDs via VeriSign PIP and not to use the claimID OpenID anymore, which is now really redundand, isn't it?!
- [16:57:33] <ArlequinNoir>
But I'd like to keep my claimID site as it is now, that's really important to me!! So how to do?
- [16:57:34] <ArlequinNoir>
I'd just like to switch the OpenID, so I added it to claimID's OpenID manager, but I can only delete the one from VeriSign, not the other one. :-( Although I don't / didn't login with the claimID OpenID URL!!
- [16:57:55] <ArlequinNoir>
...I hope that's clear ;)

<VxJasonxV> hmmm
- [17:01:29] <openid_pibb>
<VxJasonxV> I'm not entirely sure I completely understand.
- [17:04:12] <ArlequinNoir>
I used claimID for long only because of their "collection" system and I tried VeriSign out of curiosity. I now want to use OpenID, but from VeriSign, so also claimID with the VeriSign URL, which doesn't work with my old account, it seems as I have to create a new one. That's stupid! ;)
- [17:05:20] * peace-keeper (n=peace-ke@88.87.194.3) Quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
- [17:06:45] <openid_pibb>
<VxJasonxV> yeah, if you login via an external openid to claimid, you get a new openid
- [17:06:56] <openid_pibb>
<VxJasonxV> I never liked that. What I would suggest is that you talk to claimid about linking multiple OpenIDs to a single account.
- [17:07:26] <openid_pibb>
<VxJasonxV> That way, you have your actual user/pass account, linked with your VeriSign PIP ID, when both (on ClaimID) link to the same profile.
- [17:07:34] <ArlequinNoir>
Yes I sent them an e-mail and hopefully will get in contact with them. Or the should add an "export" possibility at least, so I can export & import it again...
- [17:07:53] <ArlequinNoir>
How do you mean? I don't get the last sentence!
- [17:08:16] <ArlequinNoir>
There are / should be no "both" I mean, or? ;)
- [17:08:54] <ArlequinNoir>
Or is it necessary that every OpenID _PROVIDER_ MUST provide its own additional OpenID?? *confused*

Hmm, the OpenID 2.0 POST step during RP redirect, causes browsers to throw the secure issue when the form is on a secure page, is there any way to address that and keep the POST page under https?

ie, the form is on a secure page, but its about to POST to the OP using http

Can anyone tell me if i request "x.mydomain.com" as an openid url, and then it returns x.mydomain.com/username/ as the openid key, is that valid
- [22:36:59] <_keturn>
it might be, but you have to look up x.mydomain.com/username/ and see if it actually specifies the openid.server you're communicating with.
- [22:37:26] <zeeg>
k
- [22:37:42] <zeeg>
basically what we'd like to do (using OpenID) is send all requests to a basic url, and on that url we figure out what key it is when they try to login
- [22:37:53] <zeeg>
and return that key to the relying party (our network sites, which know what to do with it)
- [22:38:16] <zeeg>
are there any sites where you login with an openid url other than domain.com/<some kind of user unique name>
- [22:42:41] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> sounds like directed identity to me
- [22:43:09] <GabeW>
yah
- [22:43:11] <GabeW>
2.0
- [22:43:22] <_keturn>
with OpenID 2.0 you can do that sort of thing, e.g. enter just "myopenid.com" at http://openidenabled.com/python-openid/trunk/examples/consumer/ . so as long as your network sites have up-to-date code, that should work fine.
- [22:45:47] <zeeg>
alright sweet
- [22:45:51] <zeeg>
perfect :)
- [22:46:10] <zeeg>
basically, i want to make the sites just have "Login" buttons, that send an openid request to our central URL (masking it as OpenID)
- [22:46:29] <zeeg>
and then the central URL lets them login there (or do whatever there), and it just sends back a new URL (which will just be based on the user's ID)
