could someone help me on php based standalone server
- [15:30:31] <NASA>
I keep getting :
- [15:30:33] <NASA>
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: fixargs() in /home/asorta/domains/mioid.com/public_html/src/render.php on line 385
- [15:31:59] <NASA>
I've found in recent channel logs cygnus explanation, that problem is based on versions, standalone server is based on 1.0 php lib version, while I use 2 rc
- [15:32:14] <NASA>
indeed then I get this particular error
- [15:32:56] <NASA>
but when I switch to 1.2.3, i get more errors, Yadis stuff mainly

I've noticed that the PHP OpenID Library 1.2.3 does not support https due to a missing paramter in the curl call. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this?
- [16:55:04] * cote (n=cote@86.sub-70-197-64.myvzw.com) Quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
- [16:55:58] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> what's missing?
- [16:58:40] * Roebot (i=AaronF@72.164.185.20) Quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
- [17:02:17] <JoeSniff>
without this line I cannot get Yadis - ParanoidHTTPFetcher to accept a https Identify provider endpoint - curl_setopt($c, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE)
- [17:02:47] * michelp (n=michelp@75.144.175.202) Quit ("Ex-Chat")
- [17:03:48] <JoeSniff>
It smells slightly dangerous, still experimenting with curl_setopt
- [17:03:53] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> generally speaking, verifying is a good thing.
- [17:05:30] * JoeSniff nods Just cannot get a ssl connection otherwise (ssl connection to https://pip.verisignlabs.com/server)
- [17:06:48] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> hm. I'm able to use a curl-based fetcher to fetch that without issue.
- [17:07:14] <JoeSniff>
Looks like its just me then :( Thanks for checking.
- [17:07:16] <NASA>
sorry for interupting: is there any standalone server supporting php lib rc2
- [17:07:44] <NASA>
a cannot get it server v 1.1. working

- [17:08:31] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> NASA, I don't know of one.
- [17:09:24] <NASA>
ok, is there any manual or step-by-step alike guide for launching on
- [17:09:25] <NASA>
e
- [17:09:51] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> launching as in implementing?
- [17:09:57] <NASA>
I'm not hell of the programmer, graduated Computer science, but with networking specialization
- [17:10:06] <NASA>
yep, implementing
- [17:10:24] <NASA>
I tried to play with php librarary and example included
- [17:10:37] <NASA>
but it is such programming mess, includes after includes
- [17:10:49] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> there isn't, but the current standalone server code could be modified slightly to work with the 2.x.x library. it wouldn't take advantage of OpenID 2 features, but it would work.
- [17:10:53] <NASA>
so hard to understand logic, where the calls are and such
- [17:11:00] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> What problem did you have with the library?
- [17:11:12] <NASA>
not with library itself
- [17:11:23] <NASA>
I got the library, got the example working
- [17:11:42] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> ah, great.
- [17:12:09] <NASA>
and then, I though of biulding up on the example service of mine, but it is so difficult to find the ends
- [17:12:46] <NASA>
I just want working implementation, connection to sql so I could build up interface and all the other bits and pieces
- [17:12:57] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> One option is to start with the example server or consumer and build from there.
- [17:13:25] <NASA>
that is exactly what I was thinking about
- [17:14:04] <NASA>
but example itself, many files, function after function, it is very messy
- [17:14:12] <NASA>
I cant get right to the logic
- [17:14:27] <NASA>
like, ok, here is API calls file
- [17:14:42] <NASA>
here is protocol implementation
- [17:14:45] <NASA>
etc.
- [17:14:50] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> But NASA, the logic is divided into logical little pieces. :)
- [17:15:12] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> At any rate, if you can think of ways to improve it, I strongly encourage you to send patches to the development list.
- [17:15:34] <NASA>
ok, I do believe that, but it lacks documentation
- [17:15:48] <NASA>
PibbRelay: it is not the patches thing
- [17:15:52] <PibbRelay>
NASA: Error: "it" is not a valid command.
- [17:16:27] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> patches thing?
- [17:17:24] <NASA>
I mean, except of that standalone server implementation, I got no error or such
- [17:18:01] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> You got no error when doing what?
- [17:18:40] <NASA>
ahh, sorry, I posted like 1 hour ago my issue with php standalone server v 1.1. and library
- [17:19:00] * NASA sorry, must go 5 mins away
- [17:19:33] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> But you left no details about what was going wrong.
- [17:20:44] <NASA>
PibbRelay: I found the log of this channel where similar problem was escalated
- [17:20:45] <PibbRelay>
NASA: Error: "I" is not a valid command.
- [17:21:38] <NASA>
I got to the point where I think the issue is with yadis, which using php lib 1.X should be installed separately
- [17:22:11] <NASA>
as I run everything on shared hosting server, I'm working our the way to add Yadis to php path
- [17:24:28] <NASA>
that is one separate issue
- [17:24:29] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> That's not true of the latest 1.x.x release
- [17:24:50] <NASA>
yes, I was refering to that
- [17:25:00] <NASA>
release 1.2.3
- [17:25:05] <NASA>
most current one
- [17:25:22] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Alright, so you don't need to add Yadis to your include path.
- [17:25:31] <NASA>
hmm, realy?
- [17:25:33] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> I mean, you need to install both Auth/ and Services/ into your include path.
- [17:25:43] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> but if you can do one, you can do the other.
- [17:26:32] <NASA>
that is the problem, as the server is shared, I have access only to ".", or local dir
- [17:27:01] <NASA>
I've put Services dir to the very same, there my Auth is, and that does not work
- [17:27:08] <NASA>
altho Auth libs are available
- [17:27:14] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Have you tried the 2.x.x library? That also includes an example server, and it doesn't have this include path problem.
- [17:27:58] <NASA>
I did
- [17:28:02] <NASA>
but I get the error
- [17:28:11] <NASA>
one sec, I will post it here
- [17:28:41] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Great.
- [17:34:28] <NASA>
Call to undefined function: fixargs()
- [17:36:17] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> what's the rest of the message?
- [17:37:05] <NASA>
full errros is: "atal error: Call to undefined function: fixargs() in /home/asorta/domains/mioid.com/public_html/src/render.php on line 385"
- [17:37:30] * Roebot (i=AaronF@72.164.185.176) has joined #openid
- [17:38:06] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> you need to run the example server, not the standalone server.
- [17:39:21] <NASA>
hmm
- [17:39:23] <NASA>
why?
- [17:39:32] <NASA>
I got the example server running
- [17:39:38] <NASA>
as it is
- [17:40:51] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Because the standalone server hasn't been updated to use the 2.x.x library. *Most* of the code in the standalone server is still relevant and the update wouldn't take much work, but for now the example server is going to be your best bet if you want to start hacking on something of your own.
- [17:42:00] <NASA>
but I have difficulties expanding it, ammending, coz I can't understand the logic
- [17:42:18] <NASA>
I started from the beginning init(); function
- [17:42:44] <NASA>
and then I get sucked into going through tens of files and links and so on
- [17:42:55] <NASA>
there are many functions
- [17:43:14] <NASA>
and no notes explaining what is happening in that particular function
- [17:44:10] <NASA>
it is difficult to understand because there are many references to library, and one get lost between server example code and library code
- [17:44:18] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> It's true, the example server could use some documentation. However, I believe the pieces of logic are small enough that they could be easily documented by someone that isn't that familiar with the code.
- [17:44:31] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> The function names should give pretty good clues as to their uses.
- [17:44:42] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Actually, there are very *few* references into the library.
- [17:45:07] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> but if in doubt, look for the Auth_OpenID_ prefix on class names.
- [17:45:21] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> that indicates a library class.
- [17:45:58] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> But if you're inclined to spend time writing up docstrings for any functions you understand, I'll gladly accept your patches.
- [17:46:36] <NASA>
I could do that
- [17:47:32] <NASA>
If while playing around in the way to get the server working I get to understand some code, I'd gladly add few notes here and there
- [17:47:55] <PibbRelay>
<cygnus> Cool.
- [17:51:08] <NASA>
ech..
- [17:51:38] <NASA>
I guess I'll launch my vmware server with rc2 lib exmaple and start playing around
