is there a way to pass data to the openid provider from the openid client?
- [21:28:45] <daedeloth>
for example, I'd like to let the openid provider know what user id the user has
- [21:37:27] <benblack>
yeah, you're doin it wrong
- [21:37:46] <benblack>
the point of openid is not to have to do things like that
- [22:02:20] <keturn>
Attribute Exchange has a Store mechanism for that, but it doesn't enjoy wide support yet.
- [22:02:28] <keturn>
what's your use case?
- [22:17:49] <daedeloth>
sorry, was gone for a few mos
- [22:18:09] <daedeloth>
ok, usecase, I am my own openid provider, so everything I write is optional
- [22:19:08] <daedeloth>
I have an openid provider that is linked to facebook & opensocial accounts. I use it to authenticate with my browser game. I use attribute exchange to pass over some api URL's (so the game can contact the provider, which in turn contacts the social network)
- [22:19:37] <daedeloth>
but now I'd like to store the user id of the player aswell, to make some additional features
- [22:22:40] <keturn>
one hitch is that messages aren't signed in the RP to Provider direction, and AX Store requests get passed through the user-agent, so you'll need some additional mechanism if you need to prevent people from claiming other user IDs

- [22:23:27] <daedeloth>
true, so best thing I could do is just add a "user_id_submit" that my game calls after logging in
