hi, I'm wondering if OpenID (Foundation) is planning to extend it's reach from just identification/authentication to a trust platform? I have looked on the roadmap on the wiki (or I think it was a roadmap) but I couldn't find a clear answer.
- [14:45:19] <Getty>
i wouldnt bet on it ;) even tho i have nothing todo with them
- [14:46:24] <dvheumen>
Getty: thx :)

- [14:59:40] <singpolyma>
dvheumen: I'm pretty sure everything OpenID related has always been very clear that it's *not* about being a trust platform

anyone can help with delegation?
- [15:05:16] <_fil_>
on a laconi.ca platform users may add an openid to their profile, and use it to log in
- [15:05:19] <_fil_>
so far so good
- [15:06:00] <_fil_>
but I'd like to then use their laconi.ca/username page as a new openid url that delegates to the one they've given
- [15:06:27] <_fil_>
and this doesn't work because delegation needs three uris, and i only get one from the user
- [15:06:42] <_fil_>
am i missing something?
- [15:09:15] <singpolyma>
You get those URLs when you do the OpenID authentication
- [15:09:41] <singpolyma>
So you could capture them in the discovery step there, and then store all the URLs together in the DB
- [15:11:51] <Getty>
singpolyma: i guess he ment more "in addition" cause of the "trusted power" that it involved so far, whatever will not happen ;) we know reality better lol
- [15:13:14] <Getty>
singpolyma: probably you can give me a hint, i found tons of documentations about anything, can you give me a some more direction about the exact process how the Provider works? I want to be one (or actually political i must be one) and i wanna know what i do, but most documentation mostly covers integration of OpenID itself or just using OpenID
- [15:13:21] <_fil_>
ah ok singpolyma i see
- [15:13:54] <_fil_>
i still don't understand why we need three uris and not just one, but that will do
- [15:14:31] <singpolyma>
Getty: if you know PHP the provider in wp-openid (the WordPress plugin) might be informative. Or phpMyID
- [15:15:13] <Getty>
i know PHP, but actually i avoid it now successful sind 5 months, so i wanted to avoid THIS step
- [15:15:22] <Getty>
sind=since
- [15:16:02] <singpolyma>
_fil_: You need more than one URL because you must delegate directly to the OP, and not to any OpenID which may also be a delegated one... to prevent chaining delegations, etc, which is slow and unsafe
- [15:16:24] <singpolyma>
Getty: Well, you don't have to do yours in PHP, but reading their code might help in understanding what's going on
- [15:16:46] <Getty>
yeah i wouldnt do it in PHP for sure, i even dont need to code it at all cause i will use Net::OpenID::Server
- [15:16:56] <Getty>
but that documentation doesnt cover the concept, it just gives the API
- [15:17:02] <Getty>
and i love to know what i do
