Hey all. We are working on a project called PGP/OpenID to hopefully drastically improve authentication on the web for those that care. We are not open for testing yet and are only in plannign stages, but I for one am curious to get all the input I can. #openid seems like a good of a room as any :-)

lrvick: don't quite get it. are you extending OpenID at all, or are you simply running an OpenID provider that uses PGP to authenticate the user agent?
- [07:18:19] <keturn>
like, I get the part about "what is wrong with current username/password authentication", but that doesn't explain what is wrong with myOpenID
- [07:21:44] <keturn>
and it says current sites that support OpenID will support your service, but the response to "someone takes us over?" does not reflect how current OpenID relying parties will treat a compromised provider.

hi, is anybody able if openid can be used to request for one time authentication tokens which can be passed to aggregate web services which they can use to validate the identity against the open id provider?

able to say that is

keturn: No i am not extenging openid, it works exactly as it was. We will just be authenticating via mod_openpgp and public keyservers
- [21:28:49] <lrvick>
extending*
- [21:29:24] <lrvick>
Also we are going to string reccomend as a part of the shign-up process that peole use delegation. We will provide instructiosn for delegation to us via their own domain, or via claimid.
- [21:30:13] <lrvick>
That way if we go down, we go down, they can set up their delegation somewhere else and at least be abel to fall-back to standard username/password openid services, or point to another pgpopenid server
- [21:32:26] <lrvick>
I may go as far as to force delegation where we actually check the delegation domain they privide to verify it is correct. That way no one ever uses us for delegation directly unless they are intentionally trciking our bot and bypassing these policies.
- [21:34:28] <lrvick>
keturn: what could use more clarity? Proper documentation of the idea is the most important firsst step in getting more input. We will intially be setting up a enigform>mod_openpg>OpenID layout.
