cks is Christopher St. John and has a brain filled with inane drivel from irc chat logs
- [02:42:17] <cks>
i've been using a chat format that somebody else came up with: <div class="message">
- [02:42:20] <cks>
<abbr title="2006-02-08T00:13:46+00:00">00:15:33</abbr>
- [02:42:22] <cks>
<cite>tantek</cite>
- [02:42:25] <cks>
<q>this is some commment or another</q>
- [02:42:26] <tantek>
hello cks
- [02:42:28] <cks>
</div>
- [02:42:36] <cks>
tantek: howdy
- [02:43:10] <cks>
anyone remember who came up with what i just posted? i can't find my darned note, and digging through the mailing list archive has been frustrating
- [02:43:53] <cks>
it was somebody who hangs out on this channel, i know that much :-)
- [02:44:03] <tantek>
I've suggested using <cite> and <blockquote> inside an ordered list
- [02:44:26] <tantek>
it was in one of the "Elements of Meaningful XHTML" talks
- [02:45:59] <cks>
i pretty sure i read that, but i actually copied it from someplace else. i had a conversation with the person about it. it's driving me up the wall.
- [02:47:43] <tantek>
cks, view source on http://rbach.priv.at/Microformats-IRC/2006-04-20
- [02:47:55] <tantek>
:)
- [02:50:39] <cks>
there we go, i do believe that was my (direct) source
- [02:51:28] <cks>
thank you
- [02:52:12] <tantek>
no problem. something very matrixy about viewing source on your current (virtual) reality
- [02:53:58] <cks>
yeah, i actually looked at it when i was trying to find who i talked to previously, but i was remembering <div> and stopped when i saw the <li>
- [02:54:42] <tantek>
note that our current channel archive logs are using an "experiment in the wild", not an actual "microformat" per se.
- [02:55:52] <tantek>
we should still walk through the process of documenting examples, implied schema, existing formats, property names etc. if we want to develop a "common" irc chat log microformat which is interchangeable between archivers (IRC clients) and archive viewers etc.

tantek: yep. the weirdness so far has been that the majority of the "examples" are arguably app-generated "formats". makes it very tempting to just engineer up a cool new format rather than standardize a microformat... on that note, i should probably be off example hunting :-)

Actually all of the guys who were in NZ from Bay Area Segway offered us somewhere to stay so that's like 2 weeks that i don't have to pay for hostels
- [06:27:03] <kingryan>
there's plenty of ways to stay free around here

like http://www.couchsurfing.com/

already checked that out. hoping to find somewhere to stay in manhatten for 2 nights with couchsurfing.com

it's such a pity that you can't really hitch-hike in USA. That's the main form of travel for people visiting NZ
- [06:32:15] <kerihenare>
well when they're traveling on a budget anyway
- [06:35:38] <kingryan>
yeah, you can't hitchhike, but you might be able to find shared-rides via craigslist

- [16:16:28] <briansuda>
to get it to work in OUTLOOK i'd just add two things
- [16:16:47] <briansuda>
<td class="dtstart dtstamp" title="20060609T1700+0100">Fri 9th Jun 2006</td> (the dtstamp)
- [16:17:04] <briansuda>
<td class="summary uid">Germany v Costa Rica</td> (and a UID)
- [16:17:18] <briansuda>
then that SHOULD work in outlook, if it doesn't let me know

i know it works in Apple's iCal, because i subscribe to it

unique in the context of the reader's Outlook calendar, presumably
- [16:56:55] <briansuda>
KevinMarks, i think it is unique to the VCALENDAR, i'd have to check the RFC to make sure
- [16:57:28] <briansuda>
but it does NOT have to be a HASH or anything, we are looking into using UID more based off of URIs

hey everyone
- [20:16:10] <briansuda>
DanC_lap, thanks for the refactoring in the XSLT, i didn't think you could actually set variables and then call them again... that certainly shortens the code up a bunch!

- [20:17:25] <briansuda>
i checked-in a few changes to the TESTS, so you might want to grab those, X2V now only fails on 1 test althought it reports 2
- [20:18:30] <briansuda>
The thing about XSLT is when it actually SETS the variables, you can create on, but then on the next line if you do value-of it is not there - it just gets abit of getting used too - it reminds me of programming FPGA boards where things are set instantly

I suspect you did (1) pull my changes [but not update] (2) commit some of your own (3) commit again "version number"
- [21:28:46] <DanC>
at that point, if you `hg pull`, you won't get any new changes, since you already pulled them.
- [21:29:18] <DanC>
then (4) you pushed, and (5) I pulled, (6) I merged and committed, and (7) I pushed, (8) you pulled and updated.
