hi
- [17:44:30] * id416 is now known as melvster
- [17:44:33] <melvster>
oops
- [17:45:52] <melvster>
whats the difference between a social graph and a social network?
- [17:54:32] <_keturn>
I think "graph" is more a math jargon term. People don't think in terms of "adding more nodes and edges to my social graph." But they do go to socials and conferences to "network."
- [17:55:21] <noccy>
anyone with technical madskillz regarding OpenID online now? :)
- [17:55:55] <_keturn>
noccy: is_valid:false, you say? What implementation are you using?
- [17:56:21] <noccy>
_keturn: i ported the simple php implementation
- [17:56:53] <melvster>
graph is a mathematical term
- [17:57:17] <melvster>
it is a specific kind of network, where the edges are symmetric, and of uniform weight
- [17:57:44] * marclaport2 (n=Marc_Lap@DBG4CD666.wbb.net.cable.rogers.com) Quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
- [17:57:52] <noccy>
_keturn: http://pastebin.com/m27efa3e5
- [17:58:15] <melvster>
i guess the social and mathematical definitions are a bit mixed up
- [17:58:49] <melvster>
what a mess
- [17:58:50] <noccy>
_keturn: and only the script highlighted - http://pastebin.com/m6bcabac9
- [17:59:28] <melvster>
wow - pastebin is pretty cool
- [17:59:41] <noccy>
indeed it is :) very helpful when you need to look at code
- [17:59:59] <_keturn>
hm. Did the code you ported from have any tests?
- [18:00:18] <noccy>
nopes, but i grabbed it from the openid libraries site, so it should work
- [18:00:32] <melvster>
mebbe i should put my openid server there
- [18:01:30] <noccy>
i think sourceforge is a better option if you want to share a project :)
- [18:01:54] <noccy>
the weird thing is that to my (untrained) eye, the URLs it passes back and forth looks ok
- [18:04:25] <noccy>
btw to try that component, save it as "openid.wsc" and open it with regsvr32.exe, it's the accessible from any com aware language as "OpenID.Consumer"
- [18:05:27] <melvster>
quick question: are you coding for openid1 or openid2 (rc)?
- [18:06:09] <noccy>
hm that that's openid1 i think
- [18:07:08] <noccy>
http://pastebin.com/d25f72898 <- that's the source
- [18:09:04] <noccy>
some parts were obviously unneccesary, such as the redirecting, instead of outputting a redirect just grab GetRedirectURL() and redirect it yourself. And, the ValidateWithServer() call needs to have the querystring passed to it
- [18:12:07] * marclaport1 (n=Marc_Lap@74.210.1.48) has joined #openid
- [18:12:35] <noccy>
http://pastebin.com/d76c545c6 <-- test script (openidtest.vbs)
- [18:14:58] <_keturn>
what's this about? "str_replace('sreg.','sreg_',request['openid.signed'])"
- [18:15:56] <noccy>
i don't know. i ported that just to be safe. i think that PHP replaces "." in query strings to "_" and hence sreg_xxx must be converted back to sreg.xxx, but i haven't got that much PHP experience tbh
- [18:16:38] <noccy>
so it's more of a suspicion :)
- [18:17:46] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> hah
- [18:17:57] <noccy>
there is another line a bit down that does the opposite translation btw
- [18:18:07] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> that's a failed attempt to fix the signed value since PHP replaces dots with underscores.
- [18:18:24] <noccy>
ah, thanks for confirming that :)
- [18:18:29] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> that line will always break the sig in cases where sreg values were sent.
- [18:18:49] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> ** cygnus cries
- [18:19:16] <noccy>
cygnus, have a peek at line 185-150 of http://pastebin.com/m6bcabac9 -- it's ported from PHP
- [18:21:21] <_keturn>
yeah, but it's not ported from the PHP cygnus wrote ;)
- [18:22:42] <noccy>
lol no, ofc :P sadly, would have given some insight otherwise :D
- [18:28:12] * amir (n=Miranda@gentoo/developer/amir) has joined #openid
- [18:33:04] <noccy>
the first steps are ok, the redirect, authentication, the return etc. what fails is in the ValidateWithServer function
- [18:41:56] <_keturn>
I'm trying to think of a way you could get known good protocol data to compare against, but it's a little tricky because most of the implementations I know would try to use an association instead of going straight to the check_authentication step
- [18:42:14] <_keturn>
I guess you could try to get a protocol capture from the code you started with, if that code does in fact work
- [18:44:15] * peace-keeper (n=peace-ke@c-65-96-165-82.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) has joined #openid
- [18:44:33] <noccy>
well, that's already in place if you wanna have a peek?

- [18:46:53] * amir (n=Miranda@gentoo/developer/amir) has joined #openid
- [18:50:04] <noccy>
_keturn: does the stuff it give you make any sense?
- [18:53:17] <noccy>
since it's running as a separate component i can't output debug info as it's running, so i made the ValidateWithServer function do return(url) instead of actually validating
- [18:56:58] * bitsweat (n=jeremy@dsl092-035-152.lax1.dsl.speakeasy.net) has joined #openid
- [18:59:22] <noccy>
tried to match that with the specs last night, and i noticed that "openid.mode" appears in the "openid.signed" parameter
- [18:59:55] <noccy>
however, "openid.signed" is changed in the next request to be "check_authentication". dunno if that could have got something to do with it
- [19:05:44] * marclaport1 (n=Marc_Lap@74.210.1.48) Quit (Connection timed out)

but yes, if openid.signed changes, that's a problem

well openid.signed is left intact. openid.mode is included in openid.signed tho, but it needs to be changed into "check_authentication" :) hehe
