_keturn: I spent the weekend working on bringing the OpenID extension for MediaWiki up to OpenIDEnabled 2.0 standards... hopefully I'll have something to install on the openid.net wiki sometime this week

Hey, I was playing with the AX extension and I notice if I try to send a large amount of data that a 'continue' button automatically appears... I assume this is so the large data can be sent via POST... but I can't seem to see where this form is being generated from. Is there any way to style this page?

Ok, I see where OpenID::Message.to_form_markup is generating the form is the data length is too long. It's too bad Rails' redirect_to doesn't allow one to submit POST requests. This function wouldn't be necessary.

I've made a modification to the message.rb file for the Ruby gem that I believe is useful. I changed the to_form_markup method... instead of just printing a blank page with the submit button it now has javascript in the <body> tag to automatically submit the form when the page is loaded. In the even the javascript does execute it has a little notice instructing the user to press the button. I have a DIFF file, where should I submit this?
- [18:32:12] <bcardarella>
I'll try submitting via DARC

hello
- [19:17:52] <bcardarella>
Hey, I can't seem to get the tests to run for a submission... I just made a simple change and after looking at the test itself it doesn't seem that it should effect it. I have a DIFF file for message.rb in the Ruby gem. Should I just email it to the list?
- [19:18:53] <_keturn>
bcardarella: yeah, send it to the list.
- [19:19:13] <bcardarella>
ok
- [19:19:23] <_keturn>
list traffic might be a little bit backed up at the moment, but it'll get there
- [19:22:20] <yonkeltron>
_keturn: out of curiosity, is there anyway to obain a press kit/schwag bag with some materials on OpenID? i'm trying to convince my college to deploy and support OpenID
- [19:22:55] <yonkeltron>
i looked for someone to contact but couldn't find much
- [19:23:49] <_keturn>
yonkeltron: you can ask kfox@janrain.com for a press kit. I don't think we have much in the way of a schwag bag here, but maybe he can find someone in the OpenID Foundation who does.
- [19:26:02] <Makenshi>

If I was to stay I would go with Crowd
- [19:29:31] <yonkeltron>
hmm
- [19:30:41] <yonkeltron>
Makenshi: well, we use the JA-SIG CAS software and we know it supports OpenID though it would need to be enabled
- [19:30:54] <yonkeltron>
additionally, there's the problem of providing OpenIDs to users and other stuff

sorry, crowd?
- [19:34:19] <Makenshi>
Yes, Crowd
- [19:34:32] <yonkeltron>
what is it?
- [19:35:07] <Makenshi>
It is a commercial SSO solution from Atlassian
- [19:35:31] <yonkeltron>
ah
- [19:38:32] <yonkeltron>
is there any non-commercial software package that can be used to provide openid urls?
- [19:38:57] <Makenshi>
You can provide openid urls with just a simple web server
- [19:39:06] <Makenshi>
just refer them to another provier
- [19:39:26] <Makenshi>
That is how I do it currently
- [19:39:29] <yonkeltron>
yeah but the school would need to be the provider
- [19:39:34] <Makenshi>
Not necessarily
- [19:39:43] <yonkeltron>
how so?
- [19:40:14] <Makenshi>
You can refer to another provider.. for example, openid.xmpp.za.net, and use XEP-0070 for authentication (or just plain xmpp)
- [19:40:36] * l0gic (n=l0gic@84.91.8.144) Quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
- [19:41:04] <Makenshi>
eg, openid.[domain]/user points to openid.xmpp.za.net/user@domain
- [19:41:29] <Makenshi>
you use the former as your openid url
- [19:41:32] * l0gic (n=l0gic@84.91.8.144) has joined #openid
- [19:41:55] <yonkeltron>
well, we already have all the accounts and such taken care of because every student has an account on the CAS anyway, we just need to turn the OpenID bits on
- [19:42:04] <yonkeltron>
so, i'm not entirely sure how that would fit together
- [19:43:19] <Makenshi>
User logs onto jabber (user@domain).. they go to a site, put in openid.domain/user.. they get redirected to openid.xmpp.za.net to log in, it sends an authentication message to them by jabber, they respond, get authenticated, proceed to the site
- [19:45:21] <yonkeltron>
yeah but we don't have a jabber system right now
- [19:45:42] <_keturn>
bcardarella: what did you use to make that diff? It doesn't have the usual diff headers on it
- [19:45:52] <Makenshi>
That is a stumbling block, then :)
- [19:46:00] <Makenshi>
Of course ideally your site is also the provider
- [19:48:50] <yonkeltron>
Makenshi: i think our CAS package can do that
- [19:48:56] <yonkeltron>
hang on and i'll find the wiki page
- [19:53:26] <yonkeltron>
Makenshi: http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CASUM/OpenID
- [19:54:34] <Makenshi>
There is a vmware image of Ignite (commercial and gnu licensed jabber server).. i hope that there will be something similar soon for openid, a vm you can drop in and connect to your directory
- [19:57:24] * stub (n=stub@canonical/launchpad/stub) Quit ("Leaving.")
- [19:58:18] <Makenshi>
What licenses are available?
- [19:59:00] <yonkeltron>
for what?
- [19:59:17] <Makenshi>
For CAS
- [20:00:37] <yonkeltron>
i think it's free
- [20:00:41] <yonkeltron>
at least open source
- [20:01:19] <yonkeltron>
aight, i need to bounce for lunch but i'll be back at some point
- [20:07:24] * hillsy (i=shaunh@npfit2.dh.bytemark.co.uk) Quit (Remote closed the connection)
- [20:10:56] <bcardarella>
_keturn: I used the linux command line diff program
- [20:11:48] <bcardarella>
> diff original new > new.diff
- [20:18:13] <_keturn>
hmm, I guess it's only with --context or --unified that it puts headers on it
- [20:18:35] <bcardarella>
Want me to do it with the headers?
- [20:19:05] <_keturn>
no, it was just the one file, so I got it figured out
- [20:20:02] <bcardarella>
ok... so do you think it's useful? I just figured with this being OpenID the point it to limit the number of forms the user has to deal with.
- [20:22:17] <_keturn>
Yeah. We were just talking about how to handle that method. The common practice is to do it with javascript like you did, we just didn't have the javascript in the library.
