hey guys
- [04:10:48] <dominiek>
I'm integrating openid in my application now and everything works very nicely
- [04:11:13] <dominiek>
Only when I try to integrate with yahoo.com's openid it fails on their side :/
- [04:11:34] <dominiek>
I get the Ooops error screen that provides no debugging information whatsoever
- [04:12:13] <dominiek>
Is there anyone that has seen that error too and found out what's wrong?
- [04:13:07] <dominiek>
Google doesnt give me much and after comparing with plaxo's yahoo-openid transaction things look fine but still fail

Hi! I'm implementing openid on my site (co-exist with my usual login). How do people solve "local profiles" on the site -- do users, when authenticated through openid, create a normal profile including local passwords and such as well? I mean, so that you can login using both systems?
- [10:42:20] <appcine>
What's the current "best practice" or most common practice?
- [10:42:45] <appcine>
Because my user table requires a password and I'm wondering if I should enter a random password for the user, or let them enter one and be able to login using both systems

appcine, I think putting in something random makes sense, because they can use openid to login and in the worst case they can request password reset if they also provide email?

Hmm, I've implemented a site using contrib.auth and some users forget to logout when leaving the shared computer. Is it possible to just use a session instead of cookies when logging in?

- [18:04:17] <donomo>
a cookie is what makes a session work.
- [18:09:02] <appcine>
Yes, I meant for the cookie to expire on browser close
- [18:09:17] <appcine>
But not for all users, just for those who want it (or the other way around might be more intuitive :)
- [18:13:45] <donomo>
there is a way to get a cookie to expire, its called clicking on 'logout' :)
- [18:14:30] <donomo>
firefox can clear cookies on browser exit
- [18:14:44] <donomo>
but dont ask me how
- [18:16:32] <_keturn>
I think it depends on the expiration time that's set on the cookie. I don't know how that works with contrib.auth though.
- [18:17:00] <donomo>
