whaaa?
- [03:16:45] <zodiak>
donomo do you have a web browser window/tab open and is it logged into your myopenid account ?
- [03:16:56] <donomo>
zodiak: yes
- [03:17:34] <zodiak>
and your trying putting the url into your consumer or is this your own server that you trying to create ?
- [03:18:00] <donomo>
im using my own domain donpark.org which is delegated to myopenid
- [03:18:06] <donomo>
into my own drupal site
- [03:18:18] <donomo>
this looks like a myopenid bug to me
- [03:19:37] <zodiak>
highly doubtful, probably more a configuration or your server setup issue
- [03:20:06] <donomo>
nothing has changed on this end. im pretty familiar with openid
- [03:20:17] <donomo>
used to work great
- [03:20:30] <zodiak>
and 'all of a sudden' things stopped working ?
- [03:20:55] <donomo>
yes
- [03:21:01] <donomo>
'your domains' looks like a new myopenid feature
- [03:25:15] <donomo>
zodiak: what id provider do you use
- [03:26:17] <zodiak>
myopenid .. but I don't use it in the style you do
- [03:29:07] <donomo>
zodiak: i just tried to login to pibb.com with http://donpdonp.myopenid.com and got the same error.
- [03:29:13] <donomo>
zodiak: can you login to that service?

- [16:12:41] <hogejo>
hello guys! I'm here again with some developer questions :)
- [16:13:55] <hogejo>
An openID identifier can only be a http://myname.provider.com, or can be like http://openid.provider.com/myname too?
- [16:14:48] <trel1023>
either
- [16:15:01] <trel1023>
any URL
- [16:15:30] <hogejo>
thanks trel1023. this was the first one. the second question is, to be a 100%, or at least 100 percent reliable provider, can I simply use the JanRain PHP library?
- [16:16:05] <hogejo>
so with JanRain PHP libs, can I set up reliable multi-user provider/server?
- [16:16:38] <trel1023>
definitely
- [16:16:50] <hogejo>
great :)
- [16:16:51] <trel1023>
server code written by you of course - but using those libs
- [16:17:12] <trel1023>
most of the open/shared server implementations are lacking at this point
- [16:17:30] <hogejo>
great :)
- [16:17:50] <hogejo>
my "network profile" website will be like "kick-ass" supporting OpenID :)
- [16:18:20] <hogejo>
anyway it is not as easy like calling some functions and done. - i assume :)
- [16:19:41] <hogejo>
trel1023: how do You, personally look at an ID if it is: openid.yourprovider.com/yourname ?
- [16:19:54] <hogejo>
in contrast with yourname.provider.com of course
- [16:20:12] <trel1023>
you mean, whether i like it? for myself?
- [16:20:16] <trel1023>
i use my own domain and delegate
- [16:20:33] <trel1023>
gives maximum flexibility later
- [16:20:53] <hogejo>
okay. most "pros" use it that way. but If you would be an "average internet user"
- [16:20:54] <trel1023>
to change services/providers without changing your url
- [16:21:26] <trel1023>
if asking from a provider standpoint - it's easier to manage a namespace that's not subdomains - but some people like it
- [16:21:34] <trel1023>
at claimid - we use /username
- [16:22:12] <hogejo>
I definitely want to use /username - for the same reason
- [16:23:03] <hogejo>
does it interfere with your other pages? Okay of course you do not have users like index.html :) or you have a different subdomain as I would like to do it?
- [16:23:19] <trel1023>
right - we have a blocklist
- [16:23:27] <trel1023>
alternately, you could do
- [16:23:33] <trel1023>
or something like it
- [16:23:39] <trel1023>
/my/username
- [16:23:56] <trel1023>
id/username
- [16:23:59] <trel1023>
something like that
- [16:24:24] <hogejo>
yes. It is easy, but I want them to be easy to remember also
- [16:24:39] <trel1023>
if your site is otherwise pretty simple
- [16:24:41] <trel1023>
just use a blocklist
- [16:24:48] <trel1023>
and map out what your site will do cleanly ahead of time
- [16:25:17] <trel1023>
or use something like /public/ for all your own pages
- [16:25:29] <trel1023>
but yes, definitely a balance
- [16:25:52] <trel1023>
site.com/allyourpages
- [16:25:52] <trel1023>
and
- [16:25:53] <hogejo>
and a big task to keep it balanced
- [16:25:58] <trel1023>
openid.site.com/usernames
- [16:26:03] <trel1023>
may be the best balance
- [16:26:29] <hogejo>
I thought the same too
- [16:26:51] <hogejo>
and who wants it to be shorter, I will alias id.site.com and things like that
- [16:28:40] <hogejo>
do you use JanRain libs at claimid?
- [16:29:38] * idnar (i=mithrand@unaffiliated/idnar) Quit (Connection timed out)
- [16:30:54] <trel1023>
yes, ruby
- [16:33:28] <hogejo>
I assume the ruby and php versions do not really differ
- [16:33:45] <hogejo>
so I should be successful too
- [16:34:06] <trel1023>
well, they're different code - but they're written to spec
- [16:34:11] <trel1023>
yes, don't worry about the libs
- [16:34:15] <trel1023>
they've had many eyes
- [16:34:36] <hogejo>
one more question before I go

is there a reason that the openID server shouldn't hold a persons personal information (sreg), and when you register it remembers your OpenID, and if you change any of your info (email/etc) on the server, and whenever you login to the end site, it checks the server for your sreg stuff, and can update your profile accordingly? (or atleast ask if you want to update it)
