<VxJasonxV> You're welcome to simply call me Jason (but yes, I know how castrated I feel without tab-complete). So anyways, from https://pip.verisignlabs.com/seatbelt.do -> "If you need technical assistance with the SeatBelt, or if you are an OpenID provider and would like more information on enabling the SeatBelt with your site, contact us at support@verisignlabs.com."

I don't know much about adding things to that plugin, no.
- [15:51:01] <trel1023>
if you're a provider - the biggest thing is getting the code from verisign, getting your certs in order, and then adding a couple endpoints to your code/site - you don't have to add anything to the plugin directly
- [15:51:16] <trel1023>
unless you're asking to be a default provider in their distributed codebase

- [16:09:13] <trel1023>
depends on what code you're using
- [16:09:14] <trel1023>
no idea
- [16:09:24] <trel1023>
could be hardcoded
- [16:09:28] <trel1023>
if you're using someone else's code
- [16:09:49] <trel1023>
lots of those example servers aren't very robust
- [16:10:03] <trel1023>
just cobbled together by someone scratching their own itch - very young tech here
- [16:10:58] <digitalspaghetti>
i'm using teh JanRain 1.2.3 OpenID lib and PHP Standalone Server 1.1
- [16:11:35] <trel1023>
yeah, not sure about that then - haven't used the php code
- [16:11:42] <trel1023>
i'm sure the lib supports the https
- [16:11:46] <trel1023>
not sure about the 'standalone'

in the config for seatbelt, there is this line:
- [16:21:19] <digitalspaghetti>
<loginStateUrl>https://name.com/RPInterface</loginStateUrl>
- [16:23:06] <digitalspaghetti>
what's that on teh server?
- [16:23:20] * martin-t (n=martin-t@smtp.ninginc.com) has joined #openid
- [16:29:32] <trel1023>
you have to create it
- [16:29:47] <trel1023>
the rest of the documentation explains what it should 'output'
- [16:32:11] <digitalspaghetti>
it says it should be a <personaConfig> generated by the server already
- [16:35:35] <digitalspaghetti>
i notice when i got here: https://openid.digitalspaghetti.me.uk/index.php/xrds?user=digitalspaghetti i get an HTML page, should this not be a XML file

<cygnus> https://openid.digitalspaghetti.me.uk/?xrds=digitalspaghetti is the correct XRDS URL
- [16:54:27] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> if you got the other URL from the app, that's a bug
- [17:01:18] <digitalspaghetti>
cygnus - i see what it is now, it's not XRDS they want, it's a custom XML
- [17:01:59] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> cool.
- [17:02:20] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> in that case, you need to add a function somewhere and register it in handlers.php
- [17:02:26] <digitalspaghetti>
basically, it gives the PIP toobar my identity

yep

<cygnus> Well, the library provides the OpenID 2 server core logic. The standalone server as it currently sits can be upgraded to use the OpenID 2 library easily, although it won't take full advantage of OpenID 2 without significant modification.
- [17:54:52] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> Truth be told, there are more solid OpenID 2 server platforms; I highly recommend the python library.
- [17:55:20] <digitalspaghetti>
yea, I have to admit using frameworks has spoiled me, and my raw php isn't has hot now, because frameworks make you lazy :)
- [17:56:36] <digitalspaghetti>
I want to try avoid python, I'm low on memory on my server as it is
- [17:58:01] <openid_pibb>
<cygnus> Python is not memory-intensive.
- [17:58:12] <digitalspaghetti>
plus, the best way to learn about something isn't to read about it, its to implement it :)

Greetings ... does anyone here have any experience with OpenID and .NET? I'm working with someone who wants to add an OpenID consumer to a Sharepoint 2007 server, but I've never done anything with .NET.
- [21:10:52] <openid_pibb>
<Kevin Fox> there may be asp implementations of OpenID out there... not sure though
- [21:11:13] <openid_pibb>
<Kevin Fox> or if that would even help
- [21:12:50] <gchaix>
Yeah. I'd heard that there was some .NET code out there, but I hadn't heard of anyone actually *using* it :-)

I guess some people use .net. At least, _someone_ made outraged noises that we asked people to take OpenID seriously before there was a C# implementation available.
- [21:18:34] * gchaix shugs
- [21:19:36] <gchaix>
I could care less, but I'd love to get these guys to set up their Sharepoint box to work like the rest of the stuff we're running on the project (i.e. Drupal, etc.)
- [21:20:45] <gchaix>
Well, they're motivated and talented, so hopefully they can figure it out :-)

If you are a web developer – you, we hope. At the time of writing this, we expect initial implementations from (in alphabetical order) Digg, Jaiku, Flickr, Ma.gnolia, Plaxo, Pownce, Twitter, and hopefully Google, Yahoo, and others soon to follow.
